Day 5 started with a tour around the ghost town Kolmannskuppe (Kolmanskop in Afrikaans), about 10kms away from Lüderitz.
Once a small but very rich mining village after diamonds were found in the area, it is now a major attractions with it abandoned houses now partly reclaimed by the deserts with some houses damaged, filled with sand metres high.
It was fascinating to see what was accomplished over one hundred years ago, that people moved there with nothing there prior to the diamond find - even drinking water had to be imported!
