On day 4 we visited the Fish River Canyon in the morning.
The canyon is the largest canyon in Africa, still often advertised as the second biggest canyon in the world after the Grand Canyon (though apparently one in China is actually the biggest) and in total about 160 km long, up to 27 km wide and in places almost 550 meters deep.
It is quite an experience watching down from the visitors' platforms and along the trail.
After that we were off to Lüderitz.
Enroute we visited a watering hole at Garub to watch the Namib desert horses, apparently the only feral herd of horses residing in Africa.
Though many of them are in bad conditions at the moment due to the lack of water and food (there are several organisations these days supporting them with food), it was still impressive to watch them and make you think how such animals can survive in such harsh enviromental conditions.
