Very early start catching the 7.07am train (ah I love Swiss train schedules with national trains often going every 30 minutes) from Basel SBB station the first (brief) stop was St. Gallen as I wanted to take the Voralpen-Express train from St. Gallen to Lucerne.
I had never been to St. Gallen either before so I used the chance for some quick sightseeing in the morning.
St. Gallen, which is well known for its UNESCO world heritage site is a rather beautiful city which I need to go back to eventually - preferably when I can combine it with a trip to the well known local theatre which is highly rated for rather high quality musical productions – just need to be the right show and not what is on at the moment as cannot care for these shows (so no surprise that despite being on during my days in Switzerland I did not use chance)...
